Tinder chaperone option
The more, the merrier?
In middle school, I remember all the “cool” kids had boyfriends and girlfriends. I, on the other hand, had Need For Speed Underground 2 and a lot of basketball practice. The concept of middle schoolers dating in retrospect is so weird. You can’t drive anywhere, so either your parents take you to the other person’s house or you… go to the mall together? Regardless, there often needed to be some form of chaperone present.
I was thinking about modern dating, and wondered what it might look like for the concept of a chaperone to be available as a feature on dating apps. What if your aunt could tag along on your date to make sure you don’t get too cuddly at the movie theater and you make it home before “curfew”? It’d be wilder if a stranger was your chaperone rather than someone you know.
There’s another angle where this could be a genuinely useful safety feature. Having a friend or even a stranger tag along when meeting someone would likely help some people feel safe (because meeting people from the internet is weird).
I can’t tell if this is a good idea, a bad idea, or somewhere in between, but it would be entertaining if this wasn’t shown until after you were en route to the date.
