Tinder leave it up to chance

Introduce a little chaos

I’ve never been more grateful to be out of the dating pool. It’s been almost 10 years and finding love seems more difficult than ever with the technology at our disposal. Very grateful for the love of my life Torie 🖤

However, I know millions of people are searching for that special someone. Dating apps seem extremely difficult to navigate, and at least in America, where there is a huge sociopolitical spectrum of drastically varying ideas and beliefs.

This got me thinking… what if we completely threw out the current playbook? Instead of leaning into helping people self-select and filter down, there could be a new feature that leaves everything up to chance. It could be as simple as a Wheel of Fortune-style dial that you spin to decide whether or not you match with someone.

Tinder’s trust and safety team, and likely most users, would hate this feature. It takes all control away from the user and gives it to the platform. The one potentially positive byproduct is that it would force more serendipitous matches and get people mingling with potential prospects. However, I see no way this ever makes it to prod.
