Tinder message friend feature

A new way to find love

We all have a hot friend. That person who makes us look bad even on our very best days. Maybe I’m just a late bloomer, but it always felt like my friends were the hot friends.

Thankfully, as I entered college I embraced my baldness and found a level of confidence that eluded me in high school. I digress… It’s safe to say most people have had at least some experience with having a hot friend (or just a friend), and these people often get left out of the social experience when we present ourselves online.

Rather than focusing on the individual, what if apps like Tinder embraced the hot friends of the world and made it easier for others to communicate and match with them? There’s a consent layer that would need to be included here in terms of making sure friends in photos are open to dating, but this idea (which is bad) does prompt some really interesting discussions in terms of layering a social graph on top of traditional dating UX.

Have a hot friend? You should share this newsletter with them.
