Tinder see their car
No more posing with a Ferrari
In the late 2010’s, there was a very specific moment when people rented luxury vehicles and posed in front of them for dating bios and YouTube videos. These people promised foolproof paths to success when in fact, they were fooling you into buying their course (don’t worry, I didn’t buy a course).
This got me thinking about the standard identity verification patterns used in native applications. Tinder is pretty lightweight in terms of the authentication they require, but if they added a bit more complexity (this drivers license), they could realistically pull your vehicle registration and figure out what car you drive.
What if Tinder verified your vehicle on your profile? This doesn’t have inherent value, but it’d be an interesting secondary signal for status, wealth, etc. It’s superficial but in a different way than appearance. It’s also good scam prevention, maybe a good idea?
