Tinder swipe right count
See how "popular" someone's profile is
According to extensive research (one Google search), it looks like it takes ~4,000 swipes for a man to find their partner on a dating app. I do wonder if this number is low because it doesn’t account for people who never find a partner via dating apps, but either way, it paints a bleak picture for people trying to find love online.
Given that women swipe left 95% of the time, while men swipe right only 47% of the time, it seems like the odds are stacked against guys trying to find love. This got me thinking about the fact that profiles have varying degrees of popularity on apps like Tinder.
What if apps more directly showed when someone’s profile was in extremely high demand? In this example, you can see how many people have swiped right on a profile in the last 24 hours. This would be an interesting metric because it would put quantifiable data to something you could likely guess (this person is attractive, I bet a lot of people swipe right on this profile).
On the flip side, if you saw a profile with fewer right swipes but happened to be desperate for a date, it might encourage you to swipe right simply because your odds are better.
I’m not sure if this is a good idea, but I’m guessing it would do something to steer people’s behavior on dating apps.
