Turbotax see where your tax money goes

The weekend is upon us.

There's something else that's rapidly approaching... tax season. I've unfortunately reached a point in my adult life where my taxes are so complicated I have to work with someone else to help me figure them out. It's a nightmare.

Sometimes I wonder where all the money I pay the government goes. I think I'm not alone in this. My friend Josh suggested visualizing where your tax dollars are going in an app like Turbotax, so obviously I had to mock up your money going towards things like tanks, pothole repairs, and fictitious medicare initiatives.

Given how disorganized the tax system is it's highly unlikely the rabbit trail of government spending could be quantified like this, but it's an interesting thought experiment regardless.
