Uber conversation discount

It’s the start of a new week.

Yesterday, I flew across the country from LA to DC. Part of this journey involved Ubering to and from the airport. The drive to LAX was nearly an hour and boy was that car small.

Thankfully, the car was clean, the driver was punctual, friendly, and not overly talkative. I’m not sure what the etiquette is for how much (if any) small talk you need to have with your driver. As I was thinking about this on the drive I thought about past concepts I’ve explored around Uber and Lyft options where you can specifically opt to have your driver remain silent.

After a long day of silence, your driver might be lonely What if there was a way to create an incentive for you to talk more to your driver? The most obvious discount is a financial one. What if you got 20% off if you could talk with your driver for the entire ride?

The beautiful thing about this idea is that the reward becomes larger for long rides, but it gets harder and harder to carry a conversation for a long ride. Thankfully, I included conversation starters which help you figure out what to say to your driver.
