Uber Eats alternative delivery methods

Save time by surrendering it

I’ve written at length in the past about my relationship with Uber Eats and DoorDash. It’s convenient in a pinch or when traveling, but I try not to make a habit out of it (unlike many Americans). Little fees add up fast. Biden even shared a tweet with a very strange iPhone mockup a few weeks ago highlighting these fees.

To add to basic delivery or convenience fees, you can also pay extra for priority to get your order faster than other people. This feels unfair, but I don’t make the rules.

But what if you don’t care when you get your order, as long as it’s free? This concept assumes that basic delivery costs are so expensive that you want to avoid them altogether. One solution would be eliminating or driving down the cost of transit through hitchhiking or public transit.

This isn’t necessarily the safest solution, and economically it doesn’t make much sense given how much longer it would take to make a delivery, but it would be an interesting experiment at the very least.
