Uber Eats Insurance Integration

Share diet data with insurance providers

They say you are what you eat. If that’s true, right now a disproportionate amount of my body is made of up beefy five-layer burritos and crunch tacos from Taco Bell. I go through phases with Taco Bell, though I know it’s… not the best thing to be eating.

I was thinking this weekend about how easy it is to make terrible dietary decisions. On the other hand, eating a balanced diet takes a lot of work and can be extremely expensive. In the past, I’ve explored things like caloric limits in Uber Eats, but today I want to take it a step further.

I saw my sister using an app that integrates with her insurance to provide rewards for making healthy choices (walking, dieting, etc). This got me thinking… what if apps also punished you for making bad choices?

Taking this to the extreme, I imagined a world where Uber Eats links directly with your health insurance provider and provides dynamic pricing (ie, price hikes) if you eat junk food.

This feels like an invasion of privacy, but it’s more than likely all this information is already available. It just needs to flow from one point to another more fluidly.
