United days since last incident
A new framing of real-time status
Flying is amazing. It’s astounding how many people take flight each day and how few indicents there are. However, the feeling I get when I hear a Boeing plane jolted 26,000 feet and injured several people yesterday is less warm-fuzzy. This is exacerbated by the fact that I’m boarding a plane in a few hours.
Thankfully, I’m pretty comfortable with flying. Often, I sleep through the whole flight due to being in a constant state of sleep deprivation.
This all got me thinking about our pre-flight visibility into booking information, timeliness, and our plane. What if there was an option to see how many days it has been since your plane had an issue? This could be correlated to your specific plane, but there’s also a world where this is generic and applicable to the model you’ll be flying in.
Either way, this feature would provide a little too much visibility and cause a lot of anxiety for most people. I don’t see a world where this is a good thing, but it’d definitely get the attention of some users.
