United Duel Feature

Happy Monday all.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a 3-hour flight delay yesterday, but thankfully I was able to make it home around 2 am. Many of my fellow passengers were trying to rebook on flights that were full or only had one seat left.

I witnessed one man generous enough to give up his seat to another woman who needed it, but the pessimist in me thinks giving up your seat on a flight is the exception, not the norm.

This all got me thinking… what if there was a way to challenge people on flights to a “duel”? It would likely cost something to propose a duel, but if you’re desperate and it gave you a chance to make that flight, I could see this being extremely popular.

You could see basic information about your opponent and other passengers could place wagers on the outcome of the fight. Sure, airlines would never facilitate this behavior, but given how heated I’ve seen it get in airports this feature could exist in a parallel universe.
