United post-flight feedback
Fly the friendly-ish skies
When a human being passes through the TSA checkpoint, there seems to be some shared social contract that instantaneously evaporates. People who are typically reasonable lose all sense of reason when they’re in an airport. It’s a lawless place.
Want to eat a hot dog and get a few drinks at 9:30 am? No problem. Feel like taking your shoes off on a place and snoring up a storm? Sure, why not?
I understand that flying can be a mentally taxing endeavor. Different people cope in different ways, but a frustrating aspect of flying is the uncertainty of who you are going to be flying with and the lack of persistent behavioral accountability when it comes to the actual flight.
Some people are a nightmare to sit next to and honestly, it’d be nice to know about this in advance. I’d pay a premium to avoid them.
In the past, I explored the concept of being able to meet your seatmate before you ever hop on a plane, but what if we added a post-flight review to that experience so that people could have a rating similar to restaurants and Uber drivers?
Part of me thinks this is a terrible idea, but a not-so-small part of me thinks this would add a level of social accountability that might just be beneficial.
