Forbid them from removing their shoes

Yesterday, I was flying from Orange County to New York City. I was reminded of 1) how tall I am and 2) how bad my feet stink when they’re in a confined space for a long amount of time. Thankfully, I suffered in silence and no one else had to experience the fact that my dogs were barking the whole flight.

Not today, but in the past, I have sat next to people who lacked the self-awareness or self-control (or maybe both) that stops most of us from taking off our shoes while on a flight. Taking off your shoes is one thing, but then propping up your shoeless feet on the armrest of the person sitting ahead of you is another level of chaos.

This got me thinking… what if you could “insure” your flight so that people would be banned from taking off their shoes? The air marshall would likely need to get involved and it’d be a nightmare to enforce, but if it was it would mean a much more pleasant-smelling flight overall.
