Using ChatGPT, are we?
Adding some transparency to iMessage

The world is increasingly inundated with content generated by AI. The most concerning use cases I’ve seen are when people use it as a proxy for critical thought or communicating in relationships. It’s scary to think that 1) a person is not invested enough or capable of formulating their own opinions, and 2) they feel comfortable pouring personal information into an app like ChatGPT without your consent.
This got me thinking about interaction surfaces like iMessage. What if there was a feature that clearly indicated when someone used ChatGPT to craft a response to a text? I can imagine that this would make many people irate, but it’d also be a forcing function to make people more responsible and thoughtful as they craft their communications.
There’s a fair amount of tracking that would be required to qualify this, and I there’s no real reason Apple would implement something like this given their recent moves with Apple Intelligence, however, I for one would like to know when people are farming out our conversation to ChatGPT.
