Workday literally fight for your job

The job market is brutal right now. Companies are “finding efficiency through AI” and cutting their workforce en-masse to drive shareholder value. I guess it is the most wonderful time of the year, so it makes sense (satire).

Layoffs, despite when they happen, are rough. This got me thinking about platforms like Workday. What if, when a layoff was going to happen, you had to literally fight a coworker to keep a job? I could see this being more popular in certain professions than others, though it’s definitely not legal, especially if it’s a death match.

This is one of those ideas that’s so absurd it’s not even worth entertaining if it gets built or not, it’s more of a reflection on the bleak nature of the current employment market for many right now. My heart goes out to you.
