YouTube review ads after watching them
Advertisers would love this
I am still too cheap to pay for YouTube Premium. I’m the minority who still doesn’t use YouTube much other than music videos, random software tutorials, and random DIY home tips. YouTube is a treasure trove of content. Everyone can find something to watch on the platform. It’s amazing.
The one thing that stinks about YouTube (at least for people who don’t pay for it) is ads. You’re trying to look up how to change a tire and then you get hit with a Valvoline ad. Hopefully they have something on the backend that disables ads when you’re looking up time-sensitive information, like performing CPR, but who’s to say?
All of this got me thinking about how you could make the experience better for advertisers. What if there was a mandatory screen after an ad placement that forced you to provide a 1 out of 5 star review and write down your thoughts on an ad?
My guess is many people would immediately switch to YouTube Premium to get around this. Others would boycott YouTube altogether. I bet algorithms are running under the hood that already provide sentiment around how much someone liked an ad, even without input from the user.
