Zillow foreclosure predictions

Can't afford it? Neither can they.

Hope you all are having a great start to your weekend.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like I'm constantly bombarded with a mix of articles that talk about the housing market being overdue for a correction but also unable to keep up with demand at the same time. One of these has to be true (or both maybe just in different parts of the world).

Thankfully, due to low interest rates a lot of people are sitting on low monthly payments and will have no trouble paying their mortgage.

However... Since interest rates are rising quickly and layoffs are happening left and right, we may soon re-enter a world where foreclosures become more common.

To that end, what if Zillow added a feature to predict foreclosures? They could use taxpayer data and integrate with a platform like Experian to get a sense of how underwater people are (or aren't) on their mortgage.

You could then make an offer knowing that someone might be more likely to sell.

This feels predaTory, but the whole foreclosure process is pretty gnarly… I digress, have a great weekend!
