Zillow who gets the house?
Divorce proceedings decided by in-app polls

I’m currently watching Gilmore Girls with my wife. We’re at a part of the show where a character has to fight to retain partial custody of his daughter. This entire process is emotionally draining in a show, and I can’t imagine how difficult it must be in real life.
On a somewhat related note… splitting up who gets what in a divorce is mess. Custody, possessions, and property create so much complexity in an already emotionally complex situation. To make things worse, it’s expensive.
It seems the biggest prize in any divorce proceeding is the house (assuming you can afford the mortgage). So what if there was a way to more easily decide who gets the house? Through Zillow, when looking at a house you could see if there was a divorce currently happening and cast your vote for either party currently in a duel for the house.
Let’s for a moment set aside the absolute legal and compliance nightmare that is this product and imagine this could exist. The winner would ultimately boil down to who could drum up the largest level of online support for their cause. Entire economies would be constructed around gaming the Zillow app in order to win the poll. Truly chaotic indeed.
