Zoom shows while you update

Making your frustration visible to participants

Zoom is one of my least favorite apps. The UX is super confusing. It’s hard to create a new meeting, the share links are long, and it feels like the host had always disabled screen sharing.

However, the crown jewel of weird UX is the fact that the app needs to update before you join a meeting. I’ve been running late countless times and then had to wait while an update finishes.

Alex Cohen tweeted (X’d?) about this recently and it got me thinking: What if we surfaced the frustration users experience to participants already in the meeting? You could even live stream whatever that person is doing.

This would be extremely funny (or maybe disturbing) for participants. I’m guessing people are varying degrees of unhinged as they prep for a call. I know I am at times.

This was a fun concept to make because I had to take a bunch of weird selfies on Photo Booth. All in all, a very fun concept.

Apologies for the late email today. Forgot to schedule this one last night.
